Dreamers Deep - A Strange Aeon's Campaign
The Strange Aeons Adventure Path
In a distant land polluted by an alien menace from beyond the stars, a great cancer grows within the earth. As its tendrils reach out through the dreams of those who learn and study its existence, a sinister cult grows more active in preparing the way for a devastation that will destroy more than the minds of would-be heroes. Can the adventurers reclaim lost memories in time to stop the advance of a cataclysmic contagion that could threaten all of Golarion? Can they resist the mind-shattering truths revealed by the Yellow Sign, and the monstrous force it symbolizes? The Strange Aeons Adventure Path pits a band of heroes against the cosmic horrors of the Cthulu Mythos, with new monsters, mind-shattering terrors, and explorations far beyond the known lands of Golarion.
Can You Handle the Truth?
The year is 4716 AR on the Golarion timeline. The world of Golarion faces a grave threat from beyond time and space. A truly unusual and unlikely band of heroes is about to take center stage in battling the will of an ancient evil….. or in furthering their alien designs.
This campaign will be different than most I've run. By its very nature, the characters in this adventure begin with no knowledge of who they are or where they come from. As such, the characters will not gain initial character points for adding NPCs and detailed back story to their characters in Strange Aeons. All characters will begin with only 1 character point at 1st level.
This campaign will also provide a unique challenge to players. Players have little control over their backgrounds, and the sanity and fear house rules can sometimes limit the control that players have over their characters. There is a point in the campaign that characters have the opportunity to regain their memories… at which point the GM and the character will collaborate on back story. Please see the Character Generation wiki and the Strange Aeons Player's Guide in the Media Library for additional details.
As far as the "horror" level of this campaign goes, there are some creepy and disturbing components. This campaign would probably have a rating of "Mature Audiences Only" if it were a video game or movie, but in the course of reading through the adventures I don't believe there is anything that would give people nightmares for days to come nor cause them to flee from the room. Nevertheless, the warning has been given. If Lovecraftian horror isn't your thing or if you want total control over all aspects of your character, then this adventure path will probably not be a lot of fun for you.
